HipChip is Group Gifting Done Right!

HipChip is a sponsored campaign offered through the Tampa Bay Bloggers. I have been compensated with a HipChip gift card for my review and participating in the promotion of this product.  All opinions shared are my own.

‘Tis the season for holiday gift giving.

I don’t know about you, but every year the list of gifts that I need to buy grows longer and longer.

Teachers, Coaches, Scout leaders, Coworkers, the boss, and the list goes on and on and on…

By the time I’m finished shopping for my family I’m so tired that not much thought goes into buying for everyone else. And really just how many “#1 Teacher” ornaments and mugs does one person need?

Thankfully sometimes  parents organize a group gift that everyone can chip in for. The only problem with chipping in for a group gift? I NEVER carry cash. Like never. As soon as I have cash it is gone towards some crazy expense or other. I always feel guilty when I can’t chip in right away (or let’s face it, ever)

If only there was a way that I could chip in using my credit or debit card. Now, with HipChip, you can!

Then there are the times that I can’t really afford to give as much as some of the other parents, but I still want to give something. There is always that small group of  parents that judge everyone else on what they give. Now you can decide for yourself what the right amount to give will be. You can donate anything from $5 to $50 and no one else sees how much each person contributed. No more being judged.

HipChip pools the contributions for you and sends an email to the organizer. It even automatically notifies the latecomers (like me) 3 days after the original invite goes out and then again one day before it closes. No more “I forgot” excuses.

So what can you use HipChip for?

Teacher gifts

Coach gifts

Coworker gifts

Baby shower gifts

Bridal Shower gifts

a group pooling money for a prize

pooling money to buy supplies

Anyone needing to pool moneyto buy a giftcard for any reason really. The possibilities are endless.

So how do you use HipChip?

  1. create a free account at HipChip.com
  2. enter the name(s) of the recipients
  3. select the type of giftcard(s)  (you can choose more than one if you’d like)
  4. the email addresses of the people that will be chipping in
  5. the end date for collection.

and that’s it! HipChip does all the work for you. They collect the funds, send out reminders and then let you know the final total and email you the gift card. You then can either print it out or email it to the recipient.

Sooo Easy!

So if it’s free, how does HipChip make any money?  The giftcard retailers pay HipChip a small commission for each giftcard sold.

I love the fact that the giftcards don’t expire either and they can be reprinted if it gets lost or misplaced. How cool is that?

What happens if no else contributes after you get it all set up?  You can cancel and get a full refund without any problems. No questions asked.  Of course, I hope this never happens to you, it sounds kinda sad. (really, NO ONE? Not even the recipient’s mom contributed? That would be so sad)
