Okay, so you decided after yesterday’s post that blogging is really not that hard. Now you want to get started but you aren’t so sure how.
Setting up a blog can be deceptively easy. Or it can be incrredibly difficult. It all depends on what you want to put into it.
The first thing that you need to decide is how much you want to invest into it.
As for me, I like to free to begin with. After you have some time to build it up, you can move to a paid host site if you would like. There are others out there that would suggest that you start out on a paid site so that you don’t have to go through the hassle of moving later. I personally think you should get your feet wet first before spending money.
The easiest free sites to get started with are blogger and wordpress.com Over the years, I have started many many (uh maybe too many) blogs with blogger. It is very straight forward and easy to set a new blog for yourself there.
I’ll walk you through setting up a new blog with blogger.
1. Go to blogger.com and sign in with your google info (blogger is a google product)
2.click on the new blog button.
3. choose a title for your blog (be as creative as you like. you can also just use your name)
4.choose a title for your blog ( this will be the web address that people will type in to find you) Make it something easy to remember.
5.Pick a theme. This is what your blog will look like. You can change it later if you don’t like it, so don’t agonize too much over which one you pick.
6.Click “create blog”
Voila! You have your very first blog!
Welcome to the world of blogging. Tomorrow we’ll talk about your first blog postings.
I agree with you, best to start on a freebie site like Blogger or WordPress.com. I even know some fairly well known bloggers who stay on Blogger and buy a domain that points to the free site, just so they don’t have to move.
