When did I grow older?

As I stand here waiting to go into the school for the sixth (6, really?) time to see one of my kids graduate elementary school, I can’t help but wonder when I had time to grow old?!?
It seems like such a short time ago that I was still in high school. I see the faces of those that I went to school with on their Facebook pages and sorry but -damn, they look so old! I didn’t age that much, did I? I know I’ve put on a few pounds. (okay more than a few) and I’ve got a few grey hairs. Other than that I’m still really only like 18, right? Right?!
Okay, maybe not. But still, old enough to have a kid turning 21 this year?
Old enough for my oldest girl to finish elementary school? What’s next? I can’t even fathom…

So many things to look forward to in the coming years. So many firsts that they will have.
Emily will soon have her first day in middle school. The boys will be getting their first job (hopefully).
First dates, first kiss, and more that I don’t even want to think about.
But while I’m busy thinking of firsts, I know that I should pay attention to the lasts too.

So here is to not only Emily’s firsts in middle school, but to the lasts of elementary as well.

congratulations, Emily! I love you, kiddo!
